LiquidCool Solutions Receives the 2013 North American Frost & Sullivan Customer Value Enhancement Award in Data Center Cooling

LiquidCool Solutions has displayed remarkable ingenuity in the design of their data center cooling solution.
After analyzing the data center liquid cooling market, which included dozens of manufacturers and designers of data center cooling systems and hundreds of products and how they impact client value, Frost & Sullivan concluded that LiquidCool Solutions' liquid cooling technology for data centers is the best, and those that utilize it will benefit from cost-savings, environmental conscientiousness, ease of service, and demonstrated reliability.

Based on its recent analysis of the data center liquid cooling market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes LiquidCool Solutions, Inc. with the 2013 North America Customer Value Enhancement Award in Data Center Cooling. Frost & Sullivan’s research concluded that all users of LiquidCool Solutions' technology will enjoy cost-savings, environmental conscientiousness, ease of service, and demonstrated reliability.

LiquidCool Solutions (LCS) has developed and owns an extensive patent portfolio related to cooling electronics by total submersion in a dielectric fluid, which decouples electronics from the room and eliminates fans. LCS combines a sealed enclosure and standard-size rack, a cost-effective approach that places special emphasis on scalability and rack management in a datacenter environment. Beyond providing superior energy savings, performance and reliability, LCS technology enables a broad range of unique applications not possible with any other air or liquid cooling systems.

In a datacenter environment three problems are addressed: capital expense, operating expense and reliability. LCS cooling technology eliminates the need for mechanical refrigeration, rack fans, air handlers, high ceilings, and raised floors. This makes it possible to accommodate 64 devices in a 42U rack so the white space footprint is reduced 50%, all of which are CapEx drivers. Total energy consumption can be reduced by 40%, and there is far less rotating equipment to maintain, significantly reducing OpEx. As for reliability, there is no water and the electronics are sealed, which results in a rugged device that eliminates equipment failures associated with electrostatic discharge, oxidation, corrosion and air pollution.

“LiquidCool Solutions has displayed remarkable ingenuity in the design of their data center cooling solution. By working with, instead of fighting against, universal thermodynamic properties, LiquidCool Solutions can provide savings to its clients immediately, in capital expenditure and persistently, in operational expenditure,” said Pramod E. F. Dibble, Frost and Sullivan. “While many firms claim to be innovative, LiquidCool Solutions’ ground-up, holistic approach to design and engineering has earned them the right to call themselves innovative, as well as the prestigious Frost and Sullivan, Best Practices Award in data center cooling for Client Value Enhancement.”

“Although our cooling technology ultimately will become the template for enterprise-class datacenter design, the fast-growing IT module market is the logical strategic entry point,” said Herb Zien, CEO, Liquid Cool Solutions. “A data module cooled with LCS technology has a 46% smaller footprint and uses 36% less power than an air-cooled module with the identical compute capacity. The annual total cost of ownership for the air-cooled system is 34% higher.”

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
