Medicarefraudcenter.org Releases New Medical Fraud Information

Manufacturers of pharmaceutical drugs go to great lengths to ensure the products they release are safe to use. A series of rigorous tests and evaluations is required before a drug can be released for general use. The data gathered from all these tests and evaluations has to be submitted to the FDA, and the drug cannot be sold without FDA approval.

Unfortunately, despite the strict controls in place, problems caused by some drugs only become apparent after the drugs have passed all the certification requirements, and their use becomes widespread among the general public.

The drug sold as Yasmin, and often known as Yaz, has been linked to several health problems. The yasmin side effects include deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism (blood clotting in the lungs), and sudden death. Other yaz side effects include damage to the gall bladder, and raised potassium levels in the blood.

Now, a class action is being taken against the manufacturer, Bayer. The yaz lawsuit alleges the company did not provide warnings of known side effects. It also claims that testing was inadequate and that the company failed to withdraw the product when problems became apparent. While there is no suggestion of medical fraud, this lawsuit could cause many problems for Bayer.
