Alex Rodriguez Suing Yankees Doctor for Malpractice

Team is backing doctor as relationship with start strains further

With the seemingly endless news and chatters regarding Alex Rodriguez, what is one more ridiculous turn of events? The lawyers for Rodriguez are now preparing a malpractice lawsuit against Dr. Christopher Ahmad, who is the team doctor of the Yankees.

Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York stated that Rodriguez's attorney as levied evidence that Ahmad misdiagnosed a hip injury during the 2012 playoffs. During that time Rodriguez went 3-for-25 with no home runs and 12 strikeouts. He was eventually placed on the bench as they lost the series to the Detroit Tigers.

Following the meager playoff showing, it was revealed that Rodriguez was playing ball with a labral injury in his hip and was set for surgery.

In the suit, Rodriguez went for an MRI and no structural damage was found to the hip. However, Rodriguez's layers felt that Ahmad apparently missed the now-known injury or knew it and withheld the information. That would implicate as Ahmed as either incompetent or malicious in his intent.

Rodriguez is currently appealing a 211-game suspension that was levied at the end of August 5. He has since been hitting .319 with two home runs and six RBI.

On Monday, the Yankees released a statement that backed the now embattled doctor.

"We relied upon Dr. Christopher Ahmad and the New York-Presbyterian Hospital for medical diagnosis, opinions and treatment. The Yankees neither had any complaints from Alex Rodriguez pertaining to his left hip during the 2012 regular season and the Yankees postseason, nor did the Yankees receive any diagnosis pertaining to his left hip during that same period of time. Given the various allegations that have been made by Alex Rodriguez and his counsel, if you have any medical questions they should be directed to the New YorkPresbyterian Hospital and Dr. Christopher Ahmad."

The strain in the relationship between Rodriguez and the Yankees has reached new levels. At this point, Yankees GM Brian Cashman has told reporters he does not talk to A-Rod outside of social pleasantries.
