Jay Carney Rumors “Unsurprising,” Says Michael Hageloh

Apple sales veteran Michael Hageloh says the implications of the Apple/Jay Carney rumors are hardly shocking.

Earlier this year, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney tendered his resignation from the Obama Administration—and ever since, speculation about his professional future has been rampant. A particularly prominent rumor is that Carney is considering a position as the new spokesman for Apple—a rumor that is, according to Apple sales veteran michael hageloh, not suspiring in the least.

“I am not predicting that Carney goes to Apple, and in fact I know there is plenty of reason to believe that he won’t,” hageloh notes, in a new statement to the press. “With that said, it wouldn’t surprise me—nor does it surprise me that these rumors have started in the first place. They are very much in keeping with what I know to be true about Apple.”

Hageloh continues, “Apple has always been a political company, much more so than people realize. The company has long been heavily involved in political lobbying, particularly with issues related to business, technology, and patent law. This is not a side of Apple that the average consumer is aware of, yet it is an important dimension of the company’s success.”

Hageloh says Apple’s lobbying efforts were essential to his own work within the company’s higher education division. “Apple’s political involvement goes a long way toward explaining why we chose to focus on higher education, and how we amassed so much success there,” he remarks. “We were working with public money, after all.”

Apple’s political engagement is unlikely to diminish any time soon, michael hageloh predicts. “The company is about to move strongly in the direction of healthcare products,” he asserts. “Healthcare is obviously a heavily regulated industry—more so than, say, selling songs on iTunes. The need for political connectedness is going to become all the more prevalent.”

Concludes hageloh, “Again, I make no particular predictions about Jay Carney. I will say that he is certainly qualified. Additionally, I will say that it just would not surprise me at all, knowing what I know about Apple’s political slant. Someone like Carney would prove an asset to the company in more ways than one.”
