Alex Smaniotto, the creator and illustrator of the Buhdeedoo is a young man with Asperger's Syndrome. He has used that to his advantage by showing that just because a person is "labeled" as special needs doesn't mean that they can't be a valued and productive member of society. As Alex puts it "I embrace my Asperger's rather than look at it as a disability. Being different is OK, and no one should be ashamed of that.” In addition to creating the Buhdeedoo, Alex has his own YouTube channel under the name of AlexTeh1337GamerDood where he does game reviews and game plays. His mother Dorothy says “if everybody were the same, life would be boring. Look at everyone around you and embrace their unique abilities and talents.” In addition, she adds “if you read my first book The Burgundy Journey: Using Hope, Humor & Faith To Conquer Adversity. No Matter What, you will get a feel as to what Alex has gone through in his young life.”
