Rock Hill, South Carolina-based Composite Resources is more than familiar with work in the motorsport sector. The company, which provides comprehensive composite design, engineering, and manufacturing services, has a longstanding relationship with NASCAR, and will provide decklids for the 2014 NASCAR season. Additionally, Composite Resources has a sister company—CORE Autosport—that boasts a winning track record of its own. And now, Composite Resources is proud to announce its role in the new partnership between CORE and iconic sports car company Porsche.
CORE Autosport, located next door to Composite Resources, will campaign two 911 RSR’s throughout the 2014 season as a “factory” team for Porsche. CORE will field the team with engineering support from Porsche. Porsche will also supply the driver lineup for the two car effort.
As for Composite Resources, the precision composite manufacturing company will stand ready to support the Porsche/CORE partnership however it can—and also to assist with any future composite needs that might arise. “We are thrilled over this opportunity that CORE has received, and we recognize it as quite an honor for a young company like CORE, founded in 2010, to now be working alongside a legendary business like Porsche,” comments Donnette Brock, Director of Operations at Composite Resources. “Of course we are also more than ready to assist the CORE/Porsche partnership however we can.”
CORE Autosport won the Porsche partnership on the back of passion and competence in equal measure. Certainly, CORE and Composite Resources founder Jon Bennett is an avid motorsport enthusiast, and his CORE team addresses its work with true zeal. That zeal is backed by true talent, as CORE has won repeat titles in the American Le Mans Prototype Challenge class, in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
The CORE/Porsche partnership arrives just in time for a truly historic event in American sports car racing; beginning next year, the two competing sports car racing series, Grand-Am and the American Le Mans Series, will merge to form the Tudor United Sports Car series. This unifies the North American sports car racing world like never before—and CORE will be right at the center of it.
So, too, will Composite Resources. Brock notes that the close working relationship between CORE and Composite Resources has been a major component of CORE’s success. “Our company manufactures composite components for use in the defense and aerospace industries, among others, but we also manufacture composite parts that are used in race cars,” she explains. “We bring to CORE—and now, to Porsche—the ability to quickly replace or repair broken parts, which is a major advantage.”
